Want a quick and easy way to update the look of your solid color pillows, regardless of the size or shape. Create Pillow Wraps.
Long story short:
We needed lumbar pillows for our outdoor chaise lounges. The chaise lounges from www.Overstock.com (click on picture for direct link).
- The four sets I liked (can’t just have one set), the price tag totaled $170.32! So I needed to think of something less expensive.
- Purchased a set of 2, Sunbrella outdoor beige lumbar pillows 12″ x 24″ for $59.99 on Overstock.com. Sunbrella fabric is the best for outdoors. (spill proof and fade proof) so I didn’t mind spending more for Sunbrella pillows since this was the only set I purchased.
- Went to JoAnns with coupons and I was able to buy six outdoor fabric prints very similar to what I wanted on Overstock, plus jute piping for $34.00.
- I made reversible pillow wraps to slide on and off the pillows to change the look. See below for the tutorial.
This particular print was a remnant that I was lucky to find, which is the same fabric I used for “Zebra print inspiration” (click here to see post). This wrap is not reversible.
This last reversible print is my favorite. The fabric is by Tommy Bahama (TB is my fav. for tropical prints). The jute piping gives it a nice finished touch. See tutorial below.
Pillow wraps are a quick and easy way to change the look of ordinary solid pillows. With minimal fabric no zippers or closures and imagine all the creative ways you can make them with trims, fringe, slider accents and embroidery. And best of all, storage space is minimal too.
Now we are truly ready to enjoy our outdoor space with back comfort and a splash of colorful prints. See below for the quick tutorials.
More pillows to come. Enjoy your week and thanks for stopping by! Sew, create and enjoy loving your home!
