Silver and Gold for Christmas

I hope everyone is enjoying the Christmas Holiday Season. We love this time of year for so many reasons.

Deciding on a centerpiece for the season was challenging because there are so many beautiful festive colors and themes.  Keeping it simple to last thru-out the winter months with very little editing was my goal.

Thank you so much for following my blog these last few years.

You taking the time to visit is more appreciated than you will ever know.

I read a quote awhile back on Pinterest and it has stuck with me.  I would like to share this quote with you.  It’s just a simple small thought to remember but it has a strong impact on our everyday lives, especially during this holiday season.

“If you only say one prayer in a day, make it Thank You”

Thankful for being able and capable to give, to share, to understand, to love.

Thanks for stopping by….Cheers!signatureChristmas centerpiece 2016

Holiday Snowflake Placemat to Pillow

Every  Holiday accent pillow I’ve seen I want to buy!  They are all gorgeous, cute, whimsy, pretty…I could go on. Holidaypillow HolidayPillows2 They can get a little pricey because you “need” more than one. 🙂  And sometimes, buying the fabric and notions/trim etc. to make them may cost more than just buying the dang pillow.  One option to save a penny or two, is this easy DIY for a Christmas accent pillow.   You have seen these large felt snowflake placemats…?

snowflakeplacemat  I picked two up a last year from Pier 1 Imports.  They were selling for approx. $2 each.  I decided to use one of the snowflakes as an applique on one of the pillows I purchased from  SteinMart;  A “Sale Paradise”   18″ ultrasuede pillows for $7.98 each.  I could not make a ultrasuede pillow for that price!  So of course this bargain I could not refuse.IMG_7379

I already had these supplies:  The felt snowflake, Swarovski hot-fix flat-back Crystals, a hot fix applicator and fabric glue. Snowflakeplacemats2 CollageflakepillowI used approx. 210 crystals (really).  These pillows did not have a zipper closure, otherwise I would have applied the snowflake on the flat pillow first and slip stitched underneath, then hot-fixed the crystals in place for the correct application.   But since I was not going to open and un-stuff  this pillow, I saturated the back of the snowflake with fabric glue then applied it to the center of pillow.   Drying time approx. 2 hours.  But I let it sit overnight without handling and this method worked out well. 7393snowflakepillow When the rays of the sun shine on the pillow, rainbows and sparkles dance on the walls.  Another reason why I love using Swarovski crystals, their sparkle and shine are incomparable.  I purchase all of my Swarovski crystals at  .  Their wholesale prices are great!

7389SnowflakepillowWell the Christmas pillows for our big comfy reading chair are done.  Pier 1 Imports has beautiful Holiday pillows but if you are on a budget like “yours truly” this may give you a few ideas on using the extra holiday placemat as an accent pillow.   Also, if you need some extra bling check out Firemountaingems. com7395Snowflakepillow Until next time…Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful week.  signature

Christmas Poinsettias and Palms centerpiece

Merry Christmas!!  I’d like to thank you for visiting and sharing your time visiting with me this year!  It’s been awesome. I’m so glad I’ve discovered blogging, I’m still new and learning.   I’m pretty sure this will be my last post for the year.  All the gifts have been wrapped and sent. All the decorations are in place and I’m not hanging, buying or putting out another thing!  The rest of the year we’ll enjoy the season while giving thanks.   Which leaves me to share this years Christmas centerpiece.

Poinsettias and palm trees was my theme for this year’s Christmas table centerpiece.   In Florida with lovely palm trees and warmer weather I wanted to try to incorporate this into my Christmas centerpiece.  Straying from the traditional red, green and gold I choose white silver and green with a touch of red.   Christmas wouldn’t Christmas without red (my favorite color).  IMG_3322PP I used my Godinger silver art palm tree collection. Added palm leaves to a white poinsettia wreath and placed it under the centerpiece bowl. The bowl is actually a Godinger salad bowl.  More Christmas greenery and just a few silver ornaments were placed in the bowl. And of course the crystal and glass snowflakes hanging from the chandelier. By adding the red poinsettias and red berries, my existing art and draperies blended into the theme. My preference would have been to replace them, but this time $$$ chose not to.

Keeping the buffet simple. I added three elements. A wreath, a poinsettia and palm floral arrangement and palm candle sticks. The urns and large round center plate behind the wreath I did not remove.

The chandelier.  As much as I want to replace with a new…I had to make do.  To dress it up I added red poinsettias. It kind of resembles bells now.   I strung crystal and glass snowflakes. Some made (see here) and some purchased from Pier1 Imports.  Also strung round/circle craft mirrors (a package from Michaels crafts) by gluing monofilament wire between two mirrors back to back. It adds just a little more sparkle.

I love these snowflake lanterns. I purchased on eBay and the sale proceeds went to the Wounded Warriors Project, which makes it more special. I just started collecting them and will continue. They are quite large and absolutely beautiful on their own.  When you insert a LED tea light, they are stunning. The linen snowflake table runner was purchased from TJMaxx. The bottom white and silver runner I made with fabric purchased from JoAnn’s to give a wider width since I was not doing any place settings.

I hope you and your family have a beautiful, happy and safe Holiday Season and a wonderful New Year!

Until next year….sew, create and enjoy loving your home! Cheers!CollagePP2014
